At last bought my air ticket. Was searching for almost a week for cheap flight to Macau from Air Asia. Price ranging from Rm550 to Rm700. Wanted to go for April.
This morning my sis send me sms telling me there is promo in Ais Asia. So quickly logged into Airasia website and i was supprice to see Rm30 one way to Macau. Cheaper than my Bangkok air ticket! After airport tax it cost me bout RM315. The only thing is the travel period is too long. Only will go on 6th July 2007. Same like my BKK trip, 4D3N. Still not yet book accomodation cause still early. Got a few more month to plan my holiday.
Damn, i hate waiting game..
My faithful Asus Notebook crashed on me last Thursday while installing Norton Internet Security 2007. I had forgotten that I took out my battery and unplug the power cable. Pooff, it became Kokocrunch. Hehe, just got a little sense of humour here. Well, what happen was I am not able to log in Windows. It just boots up to Window screen and reboot again. Tried various troubleshooting like boot in safe mood, last known work configuration, configure bios, check ram etc but it doesn’t work. The bluescreen error that pops out was Unmountable boot Volume or something like that. Tried to repair Window by booting with XP Pro cd but didn’t work as well. It gave me another bluescreen before an option of pressing R to repair or do a clean installation (format). Can’t log in windows and can’t format. What can I do?
So the very next day, bring to Evernew and they did a little test on my ram as well as hdd. Nope, they too couldn’t solve it. Ask me to bring to Asus Service Center at Wisma SPS, Bukit Bintag. So off I went there. Left my notebook there for 2 hours for them to diagnose and troubleshoot. In 2 hours time I went there again and they told me some problem with Asus ram. So they changed a new one for me. But problem still there but this time at least can boot up with Window XP cds. They can only format for me. All my Jazz collection (about 3GB) and song gone. Lucky enough I did safe my Bangkok Trip photo in my office computer.
Since all my date wiped out, Window Vista Home Premium came into my mind. (At last I got a reason to buy Vista: p) Went to LYP, and after comparing prices at various shops, alas the cheapest is from Sri Computer. An OEM version of Vista Home Premium cost Rm380. Price varies from Rm420 to Rm380. Furthermore Sri Computer offered free installation for me. Some places charges Rm20-Rm40. So I let them install for me while I have a cup of coffee at Oldtown Kopitiam with my friend. About 2 hours time, I went back to Sri Computer and saw their technician working on my Vista. First impression, WOW! Look lovely indeed. They activate it online in front of me. Update all my driver and Asus utility to Vista. Everything goes smoothly except shutdown and restart problem. The LED light at the bottom right corner of touchpad still ignite eventhough the computer completely shutdown. The LED light only turn off about 1 minute times. Restart took about 2 minute before it boot. They searched hi and lo for solution but couldn’t make it. So they suggested me to take it to Asus Service Center.
So off I went there again. The Asus guy was a little surprise that I have changed my OS to Vista. They updated the bios to Vista version but problem still persist. So they said will phone me on Monday as they need to ask for solution at their HQ in Taiwan.
Today was the 2nd day of using Vista. Love it very much. For your info, strangely the shutdown and restart problem had cured itself. Maybe after installing Registry Mechanic, it fixed the problem or maybe other software. Not so sure though. But who cares, as long as it’s running fine I am happy.
My full review of Window Vista Home Premium will be followed up soon.
